- May 11, 5pm CET - Mihai-Alexandru Petrovici: “Software Maintenance in Agile Environments – Sharing Best Practices and Lessons Learned”
Agenda: Very often, Software Maintenance is associated with fixing bugs, but there is much more behind it. This presentation offers an overview about what software maintenance means, and it provides a series of principles and best practices that should be followed in Agile environments. In order to prove the efficiency of these methods, Mihai-Alexandru will provide a set of metrics in order to measure their success. - May 12, 5pm CET - Guillermo Estrada: “GeoHash & Go”
Agenda: Spatial indexing can be challenging, especially when tools don’t match needs. GeoHash is a clever, simple and elegant spatial index algorithm that enables reliable proximity search capabilities while still leveraging any database tools at hand. This presentation will cover the algorithm and how to implement it. After a brief introduction to the Go programming language, there will be a demonstration of Go implementation for the algorithm, a sample server, and a demo of the technology at work. - May 13, 5pm CET - Wojciech Jakubowski: “Overview of Data Storage Solutions in Azure”
Agenda: Azure cloud is becoming more and more popular. It comes with a vast amount of compute and storage offerings. During this session, Wojciech will walk through the most common platform-as-a-service storage offerings in Azure (SQL Databases, CosmosDB, Storage Accounts, Data Lake, etc.). He will discuss their unique features, pros, cons, and typical use cases. This is an architecture-oriented session, and the focus will be more on concepts and capabilities rather than code base and lower level details. - May 14, 5pm CET - Artem Butrii: “The Media Industry: Big Data in Sport”
Agenda: This webinar will cover the creation of a sport data warehouse platform for the Olympic channel. It will discuss the business case, what technologies were leveraged, and what challenges were encountered. This is a big data solution comprised of cluster-computing for real-time datafeeds from various upstreams. The project's vision is to become the definitive reference for accurate athlete data, historical results and biographies. It acts as a trusted partner that shares sport data to improve exposure and engagement. It offers the opportunity to digitize sport-data-related processes across the entire Olympic Movement. - May 15, 5pm CET - Ivan Stepnikov: “What’s the KOST of your Stack?”
Agenda: The presentation contains overview of the KOST (Kubernetes, Operator, Spark, TiDB) infrastructure pattern. The stack of open source technologies is applicable for public, private and hybrid clouds and allows users to have all components at scale. - May 16, 5pm CET - Andre Podnozov: “Digital Twins: Past, Present, and Future”
Agenda: Although not a new concept, Digital Twins have gained increased popularity this year, and it’s expected that Digital Twins will play a key role in many scenarios going forward. This talk will discuss what the term means, its origins and history, its evolution to present day, and why Digital Twins is the alpha star in the constellation of other exponential technology, including AI, IoT, AR/VR, etc.
